My last reflection focused on communication through public speaking, but this project also made me think about the people who use communication and the impact they can have. I always thought of Changemaker as referring to heads of state, revolutionaries and people of that sort. I have come to appreciate through the project that a Changemaker can be virtually anyone, and the impact can be far and wide. From the presentations, I have learned a lot about how one persons actions can have a lasting impact. This is the second post in a series reflecting on the presentations in my Introduction to Speech class. In my last post, I discussed the chapter presentations and public speaking. That project got me thinking about the about public speaking mechanics and techniques, This project helped me think about the people who influence change in society, many of whom use communication to create that change in the world. Before to this assignment, I thought changemakers only referred to people w...
Blog 2 - Change Markers Griselly Andrade   Change Makers of America: Learning from Different Generations of Leaders During our change makers of America   project, our professor divided the class into four different groups. Each group was assigned a specific historical period and had to research important individuals who made a significant impact in the United States during that time. Every member selected a historical figure to study and present. Listening to all the presentations was interesting because it allowed us to see how different people throughout history have shaped the country in political, social, and cultural ways. I would like to briefly reflect on some of the ideas and individuals that stood out to me from each group. Group 1 – The 1700s The first group focused on influential leaders from the 1700s who helped establish the foundation of the United States. Their presentation highlighted important figures such as James Madison, Benjamin Frankl...

Blog Post 2 – Changemakers Presentation Reflection Changemakers are individuals who help create positive change in society. My name is Madelay Cabrera Ravelo, and in this blog I will share what I learned from the changemakers presentations in my Public Speaking class. Listening to my classmates helped me learn about many historical figures who influenced society and worked to improve people’s lives. Each group presented changemakers from different time periods, including the authors of the Constitution, leaders from the 1800s, influential figures from the 1900s, and modern changemakers from the 2000s to the present. Before these presentations, I did not realize how many individuals throughout history have contributed to democracy, equality, healthcare, and scientific progress. Listening to the different presentations helped me understand that change can happen in many different ways and in many different fields. Some changemakers influence society through politics, others through scienc...

My name is Monica, and in this blog, I want to share my thoughts and reflections about the Changemakers presentations that we did in our Public Speaking class. This project was very interesting because every group focused on different historical periods and the important people who helped shape democracy and society.
